Champorado is a sweet chocolate rice porridge that is popular in the Philippines. It is a comforting and delicious breakfast or snack, especially on a chilly day. Here is a simple recipe to make champorado at home:
Ingredients:
- 1 cup glutinous rice (also known as sticky rice)
- 4 cups water
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup evaporated milk
- Optional toppings: condensed milk, whipped cream, or sliced banana
Directions:
- Rinse the glutinous rice in a strainer until the water runs clear.
- In a large pot, combine the rice and 4 cups of water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat.
- Reduce the heat to low and let the rice simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Once the rice is cooked and most of the water has been absorbed, add the cocoa powder and sugar to the pot. Stir until everything is well combined.
- Add the evaporated milk to the pot and stir until the champorado is smooth and creamy.
- Serve the champorado in bowls and top with your desired toppings, such as condensed milk, whipped cream, or sliced banana.
Enjoy your warm and comforting bowl of champorado!
