Kutsinta

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/2 cups rice flour
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lye water (potassium carbonate solution)
  • 3 cups water
  • Orange food coloring (optional)
  • Grated coconut for serving

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the rice flour, all-purpose flour, and brown sugar. Mix well.
  2. Add the lye water and water to the dry ingredients. Mix until the batter is smooth.
  3. Add orange food coloring, if desired, and mix until the desired color is achieved.
  4. Pour the batter into small molds or cups, filling each one about 3/4 full.
  5. Steam the kutsinta for 20-25 minutes, or until the kutsinta is firm and cooked through.
  6. Remove the kutsinta from the molds and serve with grated coconut on top.
  7. Enjoy your homemade kutsinta!
