Ingredients:
- 1 kg fish (such as bangus, tilapia, or mackerel), cleaned and cut into serving pieces
- 1 cup vinegar
- 1 cup water
- 1 onion, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 thumb-sized ginger, sliced
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 pieces long green chili (optional)
Instructions:
- Heat oil in a pot or wok over medium heat. Add onion, garlic, and ginger and sauté for 1-2 minutes or until softened.
- Add the vinegar, water, brown sugar, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then lower the heat to medium and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
- Add the fish pieces to the pot and let it cook for 5 minutes on each side or until the fish is fully cooked.
- Add the long green chili (if using) and let it simmer for another minute.
- Transfer the Paksiw na Isda to a serving dish and serve hot with steamed rice.
